WordZap Players on ICQ 

Most of the very active players play on the ladder so a good first place to look is the WordZap Ladder Page. If you want someone in a particular time zone or language, check these lists: 

If you have version WordZap 4.40 or higher you can play over ICQ without being registered.

ICQ Netiquette 

To find someone a new WordZap opponent using ICQ requires some initiative on your part.  First select some people you would like to play against and add them to your address book by clicking on their UIN (If you are given a choice of Open and Save, you should pick Open).  Tell them you are interested in finding a WordZap partner  -- remember, the worst that can happen is they can refuse you. 

Now, when you are online, see which WordZap players are also online and just invite them.  Send them a friendly message asking them to play.  They may be busy or not wanting to play right now and they will say "no" or perhaps "later".  Being polite is the key -- and conversely if you get invited and the time is bad, say "no" politely back.  Nobody is going to match up unless someone invites -- so do it!
